WEDNESDAY

#OPP Worksite:

It was raining this morning, so we talked to the homeowner while we waited for it to stop. As we waited for the roof to dry after the rain had stopped, we played a short game of "wet papertowel football," it was intense. Following, we took turns carrying up the many bags of shingles to the 24ft tall roof. We then shingled about a third of the roof while wearing our harnesses. We also placed some safety beams at the edges of the roof for tomorrow as we finished for the day.

Team Granny Worksite:
Today we finished up the top roof, and managed to get a fairly large chunk of shingling done on the bottom roof. We had a lot of fun on the site-- Father Pawel encouraged us especially to get the top roof done (by taking the ladder away until we finished, haha) and we talked to Granny for a while. We also played with a kitten during our water break, and got to know our carpenter, Dale, better, and we had him smiling at times.

Team Jebbie Worksite:
We got off to a late start due to a slight lack of supplies, but once we got going, we worked hard to earn our half day. We cut shingles to cap where the different sides of the roof met, and managed to cap what we could. In the meantime, we got most of our new support beams in place, and we are looking forward to working hard these next couple days.

Tonight's speaker was Christine O'Kane:

"Tonight's talk centered around the word 'invisible.' Sometimes it can be hard to see God at work in our lives amidst the pain and suffering which we, and those we love, endure. However, to see God, all we need to do is take a moment to look. God works in mysterious ways, but is very visible in the people of Harlan who we are helping, and in the faces of each and every team member.
